The Algerian Constitutional Council today formally approved the list of five candidates for the presidential elections scheduled for December 12th.
According to APS, the final list of candidates for the presidential elections includes former Prime Minister Ali Benflis, former Prime Minister Abdelmajid Taboun, former Minister of Culture Ezzedine Mihoubi, former Minister of Tourism Abdelkader Benkreina, and Future Party Chairman Abdelaziz Belaid.
These five names were proposed earlier by the Independent National Electoral Authority, while the Constitutional Council rejected the appeals of 9 interested candidates for not meeting the legal requirements.
On April 2, former Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika officially announced the end of his presidential term.
