Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country could become one of the world's leading providers of artificial intelligence.
"We can really do this, taking into account the potential of our national schools in mathematics, physics, other fine sciences and in the humanitarian field," Putin said in a speech at a conference on artificial intelligence.
“We have to become one of the leading players in artificial intelligence in the world.”
"This is a question of the future of the country and its place in the world," Putin said. "Demand must be very strict from our institutions and companies that share state capital."
Putin said that the ability to ensure and enhance the technological potential of the country is the most important criterion and measure of its effectiveness.
The conference is being held in Moscow, where a number of issues will be discussed, including the implementation of the national strategy for the development of artificial intelligence, which was recently approved by the Russian president.
