(CNN Spanish) - In the last hours, several government party officials in Bolivia resigned, prior to the announcement of President Evo Morales that he will also leave office.

Morales' announcement was made hours after the Organization of American States (OAS) presented the conclusions of an electoral audit, in which he warned of serious irregularities in the general elections held at the end of October. Some of the resignations have been confirmed by the Bolivian Information Agency (ABI).

Iván Arciénega, mayor of Sucre, capital of Bolivia

"I announce my irrevocable resignation to the office of mayor, in search of a peaceful solution to the conflict that the country is experiencing, so that the constitutional order and the full rights of the people are restored, for a united Bolivia."

  • Sergio Cusicanqui, Deputy Minister of the Treasury
  • Gonzalo Durán, Ambassador of Bolivia in France
  • Orlando Careaga, senator of Potosí
  • Juan Carlos Cejas, governor of Potosí
  • Iván Canelas, governor of Cochabamba

In addition, María Eugenia Choque, president of the Electoral Tribunal, announced her resignation on Sunday. In a letter published by the electoral agency, Choque said: "I have taken note of the preliminary conclusions of the OAS report that states that there were several irregularities ... In this context, I present my irrevocable resignation."
