(CNN) - Once the president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, presents his letter of resignation to Congress, and since Vice President Álvaro García Linera also resigned, the president of the Senate, Adriana Salvatierra Arriaza, would be in charge of the country, of agreement with the Bolivian Constitution.

Adriana Salvatierra Arriaza is a 30-year-old Bolivian policy. She has been president of the Senate since 2019. It is not clear if Salvatierra will accept the position. Segments of the Bolivian opposition have said they do not want anyone from the government party to take over.

What the Constitution says
Article 169 of the Bolivian Constitution:
I. In case of impediment or definitive absence of the President or the President of the State, it will be replaced or replaced in office by the Vice President or Vice President and, in the absence of this or this, by the President or the President of the Senate, and lack of this or this one by the President or the President of the Chamber of Deputies. In the latter case, new elections will be called within a maximum period of ninety days.
II. In case of temporary absence, the Presidency of the State will assume the position of the Vice Presidency, for a period that may not exceed ninety days.
