Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakel warned of the continued deterioration of the health situation in Yemen with the spread of epidemics in light of the continued Saudi aggression and the siege imposed on Yemeni cities and ports.

Al-Mutawakil said in an interview with Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the health situation is worsening with the spread of malaria and dengue fever in the governorates of Hodeidah, Hajjah and Sa'da specifically, where these two epidemics threaten the lives of many with the lack of medicines due to the siege.

According to the results of the medical team in the surgical directorate in Hodeidah, 407 cases were diagnosed with dengue fever (23.81 percent) and malaria 28.57 percent of the cases tested and diagnosed.

In 2018, the Ministry of Health reported 203297 children with malaria. In September of the same year, dengue fever cases reached 3,813 cases. Hodeidah, Taiz and Abyan accounted for the highest incidence of this epidemic. Meningitis cases reached 1,487 cases.

Since 2015, the people of Yemen have been subjected to unjust aggression and systematic destruction of infrastructure, including the health sector, which was targeted by the Saudi-led aggression coalition, which has left a disastrous situation.
