Baghdad-Sana
Iraqi parliamentary blocs condemned the ongoing American interventions in Iraq and its attempt to influence the internal situation and incitement to sow hostility with neighboring Iran.
Fateh MP Mohammed al-Baldawi told SANA's correspondent in Baghdad that the White House issued a statement on the demonstrations publicly inciting to divert demonstrators' demands from correcting the political process and resolving economic crises to a path aimed at fueling hostility and incitement against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Al-Baldawi added that the United States is still determined to make the Iraqis fuel for its aggression and this will not happen because the people, the government and the parliament are united in their refusal to use Iraqi territory as a starting point for any external aggression against any neighboring country.
For his part, Fadhel Jaber, a member of the Building Alliance, said that Washington through its embassy in Baghdad is working to escalate the crisis of demonstrations by curtailing the role of the government and parliament in their quest to meet the legitimate demands of peaceful demonstrators, stressing that the US embassy is part of the origin of the crisis.
The US embassy in Baghdad, in a typical parade position, called on the Iraqi government to "stop violence against protesters and fulfill the pledge of President Barham Saleh to approve electoral reforms and early elections."
Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi announced a major cabinet reshuffle and new reforms that will soon take place in response to protesters' demands, including the electoral system and the commission, as well as a schedule to cut the salaries of senior officials by half, salary scale adjustments to lower equity and achieve greater justice.
