Manifesto in the "Berliner Zeitung": So much, so fast, around us

2019-11-11T16:13:58.640Z

Silke and Holger Friedrich, the new owners of the Berlin publishing house, have presented their first major work: their "Berlin Embassy" is undoubtedly trend-setting. Just wondering where to go.

"Da Da Da" is a song by the band Trio from the year 1982. With its appearance it became clear that the Kohl government, which came to power later that year, would finally be, finally, because the central passage in it reads: " What's wrong with you, sweetheart? Aha / Is it always going downhill? Aha / is it just what you understand? Aha "

When I started to read the "Berlin Embassy" of the two new publishers Silke and Holger Friedrich right after buying the "Berliner Zeitung" (at the kiosk), I had to think about this lyrics. And to a text of my school friend Tobi, whom he had written for our school newspaper.

If I remember rightly, it was titled "The Problems of Humanity" and I have not remembered much of that, just that: it was very, very long and carried by the obvious will to world meaning. It was equally obvious that Tobi had got away with it pretty much. Incidentally, today he is the owner of a small but fine computer service company.

It has to be lonely at the top

Silke and Holger Friedrich have chosen the opposite way and set up their all-declaring manifesto only after a lucrative career in the IT industry.

Now they own the publisher and thus the newspaper, and one may assume that this is the only reason that their "Berlin Embassy" was printed: naked fear of journalists now subordinate to them. No one dared to edit the bosses.

For this sad practice, the Friedrichs are just another of the alarmingly accumulating examples:

  • Recently, for example, Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer, published a ellenlangen, somewhat confused and therefore allegedly also unredigated sermon in the wake of the anti-Semitic attack of Halle in the "world".
  • And since the esteemed colleague Jan Fleischhauer has taken over the spiritual sovereignty over the Burda-Verlag, obviously no one dares to use it, editing his keyboard.

It has to be very lonely at the top.

On the other hand, of course, very interesting, this "Berlin Embassy" of the married couple Friedrich: So that sounds like when great sense of mission and thick account to mate and want to give birth to a "turn of events". Since the strange case of the similarly interpretive Cologne imperium sprout Konstantin Neven DuMont has probably been spotted in the industry no longer so relish about publishers. If one speaks for too long without a dot and a comma, it is now grinning that he has probably bought the Berlin publishing house.

Attempt of a collection of materials

So far in this column was not a word of what the Friedrichs now actually written, what they want and intend. There's a simple reason for that: it's not so easy to find out. One reads the "Berlin Embassy" and reads it again, and remains somewhat helpless after the third time.

Attempt of a collection of material:

The "established parties" consider the Friedrichs incapable of dealing with the challenges of the present and the future. At the European Union it bothers the "undemocratic distribution of posts in Brussels", the Berlin Mietendeckel they do not seem to approve and in general everything must go much faster, because nothing is not within two years to create, which is why after the deadline again elected should be. They are so disappointed by public service broadcasting that they no longer want to realize that the GEZ fees mentioned by them have not existed in this form for years.

Angela Merkel like her because she is so diligent, but may the Chancellor please think about the following:

"The fact that the self-conception of many politicians and the power-finding mechanisms no longer meet the requirements of reality and it must be responded to .. Lack of obvious alternatives make many voters long ago, with some fatal consequences for the distribution of forces in the country emptying calendars of the Federal Chancellery Opportunity for critical reflection in the extended sense of the homeland security, if necessary also under the use of the authority competence? It is foreseeable that the seminar fee from the action of the sleep converter 1914 will be paid soon. "

Since you will actually have to block a few days in the Chancellery to find out what could be meant.

It remains well after the big question: huh? Homeland Security? Perhaps the Friedrichs are worried about the rise of right-wing national forces and the threat of a world war, but that can not be true, because that's what they could easily have written down.

Egon thanks, IT programs

And so we are only in the third of twelve page-filling columns of this text. In the following, the Friedrichs will also thank Egon Krenz, who generously did not let shoot on GDR citizens, show understanding for Vladimir Putin and his expansionist policy, somehow perhaps demand (or not, remains cryptic) the IT-based monitoring of workers, the border regime Establishing a close relationship with the GDR and the external borders of the EU, equating Merkel with Krenz (both have done sensible things in borderline cases), speaking in an "extended context" on Halle, praising the group Rammstein, who mention German guilt in the Holocaust, but just to knock on the back of the Germans that they commemorate their guilt better than anyone else in the world, condemning the German education system and declaring federalism a crime in this context, turning itself into a super-fast introduction of a new IT structure in the United States Berliner Verlag congratulate, happy that their text "impunity" written and read w could explain itself and / or the country to the "desire place", finally and finally, finally come with a request for application to the conclusion: "perhaps we try it together as citizens of Berlin, no matter where we live, and take stock promptly."

Hermann Bredehorst / DER SPIEGEL New owners of the "Berliner Zeitung" "We can only lose a bit of time and money"

So balance, but timely. An author of the blog "Salonkommunisten" has taken the trouble to "track down and dismantle" the five dumbest sentences from the completely daft manifest of Holger and Silke Friedrich. That's why it should not work here anymore, it's just too much and takes too long and we have no time, because "so much faster happens around us," as the Friedrichs know.

Oststolz and Start-Up-Geschwurbel

In view of the many question marks that populate the "Berlin Embassy", all that remains is to ask yourself a few questions: What is this text?

Perhaps it is so incomprehensible (for me West Germans anyway), because we have consistently spoken past each other for 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany and there is still no common understanding, not only of society in general and of democracy in particular but West Germans and East Germans are far more fundamentally lacking a common language in which the same words mean the same thing? An involuntary document of mutual incomprehension and speechlessness?

Or is this "Berlin Embassy" but only the very private blend of nostalgic Eastern pride and neoliberal start-up Geschwurbel the married couple Friedrich, who did not know where to go with the money and time, and now just out of boredom, the long to add a highly bizarre chapter to the moving history of the "Berliner Zeitung"?

The future of the "Berliner Zeitung" remains exciting - in the way, as well as a risky overtaking maneuver is exciting. Should it fail, the Friedrichs can still buy a street and name themselves after themselves.

One of them is just missing in Berlin.
