The Committee on Budget and Accounts in the People's Assembly discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Finance and its affiliated bodies for 2020, amounting to 16 billion and 353 million and 500 thousand Syrian pounds.
He called on members of the committee to develop financial legislation and address issues related to the accumulation and tax evasion and sales tax, and conducting reconciliations with the public authorities with regard to the collection of taxes and pay more attention to lending and deposit policies and interest rates in public banks, stressing the need to tighten the campaign against smuggling.
Members of the committee demanded the extension of Law No. 46 of 2018, which exempts loans granted to clients of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank from all contractual benefits and the benefits and fines of delay resulting therefrom, pointing to the need to address the shortage of bank staff.
In response to the claims of the members of the Committee, Minister of Finance Dr. Mamoun Hamdan said that the ministry is reviewing all legislation related to the general tax within a clear and transparent study has been formed committees to address tax evasion, indicating the importance of the electronic payment project to know the real income and sales of taxpayers and thus estimate the tax correctly. The information infrastructure related to the real estate sales project is ready, but it has been left to take advantage of modern geographic technologies within it.
