Nikki Haley is said to have great ambitions in the Republican Party. In spite of denials, speculation persisted that she could replace Donald Trump's Vice President Mike Pence in the 2020 US election. Now she has spoken with a new book - and shares in it vigorously.
Former United States Ambassador to the United Nations has blamed "With All Due Respect" for former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former Chief of Staff John Kelly.
Tillerson and Kelly had undermined US President Trump's authority during their term and also wanted to win them over, Haley writes, according to US media reports, such as the "Washington Post" in a book published in the US on Tuesday. Kelly and Tillerson had told her that they had tried "to save the country," Haley was quoted as saying.
"Undermining a president is really a dangerous thing and it's against the Constitution and against what the Americans want," Haley told CBS on Sunday.
Ex-chief of staff Kelly lets the criticism drain
At least one of the two accused did not want to let it stand that way. If Trump's work means giving him "the best and most open, lawful and ethical" advice for an informed decision, he pleads guilty, Kelly told The Washington Post.
