The German school leaders give the digital equipment of their schools the rather moderate grade 3.8. In a survey published on Monday by the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) survey of nationwide 5259 school leaders they complained about a poor equipment with hardware and software, a lack of maintenance of existing technology and too little training opportunities for teachers.
While computer equipment is rated as satisfactory on average with a score of 2.9, the school principals estimate the equipment with tablets with the grade 4.5 as almost deficient. Even with the smartboards, so interactive boards, it does not look much better with the grade 4.
Especially dissatisfied are the heads of elementary schools. 60 percent give the equipment with tablets a smooth six, with the Smartboards, it is almost half. The WDR also asked students aged 14 to 20 years after the assessment of the digital equipment - they see the need for action in the same places according to the survey, their rating is even more negative than that of the teachers.

According to the information available, about half of the teachers take care of existing technology. To relieve these, therefore, many school leaders demand a "digital janitor". About every fifth of the requested 27,000 schools participated in the survey. Since the participation varies according to federal states, according to the WDR data can not create a separate ranking by country.
