Beirut-Sana

Renewed sit-ins and demonstrations in all Lebanese regions today to demand accountability for corrupt people, improve the living conditions of citizens and prevent the imposition of new taxes.

Hundreds of protesters gathered this morning in front of the Palace of Justice in Beirut and closed its entrances in support of the independence of the judiciary and to demand the acceleration of parliamentary consultations.

Hundreds of protesters, university students and schools gathered in front of the Lebanese Ministry of Education in UNESCO and cut off roads in the region, raising the media and banners demanding the reduction of school and university tuition, while major public roads were cut off in Akkar with iron barriers, tires and dust.

Accordingly, the majority of public and private schools and a number of official institutions are closed by virtue of the inaccessibility of staff, workers and students.

In Tripoli, demonstrators blocked a number of roads in compliance with the general strike, while schools, universities, institutes and professionals announced the closure of doors to pupils and students.

The protesters closed the EDL in Sidon and then moved to the Ogero building, where they laid the ground for the closure.

The employees of the two mobile operators, Alpha and Touch, started their open strike and stopped working in the main centers of the two companies and in the regions, raising slogans calling on the Ministry of Communications not to deduct 30 percent of their annual income, sign a collective labor contract and ensure the continuity of their work in any management or privatization contracts.

Protesters and demonstrators in Lebanon continue their daily demonstrations since October 17, demanding better living conditions, holding corrupt people accountable and fighting corruption in Lebanon.
