PARIS (Reuters) - An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked southeastern France on Friday, injuring four people and causing minor damage in about 50 buildings, the French National Seismological Network said.
"The quake struck around the Ardesh district where three people were injured and a fourth person was seriously injured in the neighboring Drum district," the network said in a statement.
For its part, the company (EDF) Energy said it is conducting regulatory checks at its nuclear power plants Trikasta and Croas in the region to ensure their safety.
Authorities said they had provided temporary shelter for some residents in local sports facilities.
