(CNN Spanish) - Formula 1 announced on Monday an ambitious sustainability plan to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030.
This initiative will apply to Formula 1 cars that compete in races and track activity, as well as the rest of the organization's event operations.
F1 developed this plan with the International Automobile Federation, sustainability experts, teams, promoters and competition partners.
Formula 1 reported that carbon reduction projects will begin immediately with the aim of making the famous tournament a greener sport.
They explained that they will eliminate single-use plastics, reuse materials, recycle and also compost all organic waste from the races.
F1 added that it will provide incentives and tools to offer each follower a greener way to reach the race tracks and ensure that circuits and facilities improve the environment.
