MOSCOW - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Armenian Ambassador to Moscow Vardan Tuganian discussed on Monday the situation in the Middle East, including the political solution to the crisis in Syria.
The Sputnik news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement today that they discussed during the meeting "current issues related to the multi-faceted cooperation between Russia and Armenia in the Middle East, including the political settlement in Syria."
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with the Armenian news agency Medimax that significant progress has been made in the process of reaching a political settlement to the crisis in Syria, pointing out the importance of the Astana talks in this regard.
