MIRA: Disney +: in which countries will it be available from this Tuesday

Disney fans looking to enjoy all the content that the company's new streaming service had to offer were greeted by error pages starring Disney's Wreck-It Ralph itself.

Another error page represented Mickey Mouse and his dog, Pluto, as sad astronauts looking at space.

“Disney + consumer demand has exceeded our high expectations. We are satisfied with this incredible response and we are working to quickly solve the user's current problem. We appreciate your patience, ”a Disney + spokesman said in a statement.

Downdetector, a website that provides information about online interruptions, had received more than 7,300 reports of problems related to Disney + at 7 am ET. Then, the number of reports decreased before going back up, reaching almost 8,500 reports around 9 am ET.

Some users on social networks reported a litany of difficulties to start the application and view content on the service.

“Introducing Disney + Premium! For a small update fee of $ 15 per month, you can enjoy our vast catalog of movies and TV series without the hassle of anything working, ”tweeted Richard Lawson, chief critic of Vanity Fair.

Dave Itzkoff, a New York Times culture reporter, tweeted: "PHENOMENIC COSMIC LIBRARY / server capacity," a joke that refers to the company's animated classic "Aladdin."

The difficult start for Disney + is a bit embarrassing for the company, considering the attention around the launch of the service.

The service is Disney's first onslaught in the "streaming war", in which media companies such as WarnerMedia and Comcast, as well as tech giants like Apple are struggling with Netflix for the time and money of consumers.

For Disney and its CEO, Bob Iger, Disney + represents a major change in the company's commercial approach and a possible key to its future.

"The launch of Disney + is a historic moment for our company, which marks a new era of innovation and creativity," Iger said in a statement when the service was launched early Tuesday.

The service will have 30 original series, 7,500 past episodes and 500 movie titles. That includes a new Star Wars series, "The Mandalorian," Disney Animation, Marvel movies like "Avengers: Endgame," National Geographic documentaries and 30 seasons of "The Simpsons."
