Tehran-Sana

TEHRAN: Iran's top foreign minister for special political affairs Ali Asghar Khaji reiterated his country's stance in support of efforts to halt the Saudi-led aggression on Yemen and bring peace and stability to Yemen.

Khaji said during his meeting today with Swedish special envoy to Yemen Peter Semneby that "a comprehensive political solution in Yemen requires stopping the war, lifting the siege on this country and launching the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue," criticizing the failure of the Saudi aggression coalition to implement its commitments under the Stockholm agreement.

The Yemeni parties agreed during the consultations in Sweden on 13 December last to cease fire in Hodeidah and understandings on the city of Taiz, but the Saudi aggression coalition and its mercenaries continue their violations and violations of this agreement.

For his part, Iran's Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Gholamhossein Dehghani criticized the "unilateral approach of the UN Security Council" towards the situation in Yemen and the lack of attention to the humanitarian dimension of such crises.

During his meeting today, Dehghani called on the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alex Keynes of Iran to pay more attention to the peaceful settlement of the crisis in Yemen.

Dehqani also criticized reports by the United Nations Secretariat on the implementation of resolution 2231, which ignores repeated US violations of the nuclear deal.

It is noteworthy that the UN Security Council unanimously adopted its members in 2015 through resolution 2231 comprehensive action plan reached by the parties to the nuclear agreement in July of the same year, Iran and five plus one countries, but the US administration announced in May last year to withdraw from the agreement Iran and the European Union have refused to do so.
