Lebanese President General Michel Aoun announced that the new Lebanese government will commit to implement the reform paper approved by the previous government in addition to a number of laws that are supposed to be passed by the House of Representatives in the context of fighting corruption.
Aoun said during his meeting today with the Director of the Department of North Africa and the Middle East at the French Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Christophe Farno that "the current popular movements have raised the slogans of reform are the same commitment that the President of the Republic to achieve, but the dialogue with those involved in this popular movement is still impossible despite repeated calls made for them".
Aoun said that he will continue his contacts to conduct parliamentary consultations to name a new prime minister, expressing hope that this will be achieved soon, pointing out that his choice to be a new government composed of politicians and technocrats to ensure the necessary political coverage to be able to gain the confidence of parliamentary blocs in addition to the confidence of the people. .
There have been demonstrations and sit-ins in many Lebanese areas since last month to protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions.
