The Russian Foreign Ministry called on some countries not to exploit the current situation in Bolivia, expressing the hope that things will return to normal.
Sputnik quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying today: "We do not want the turmoil to continue after this sudden volatility, which took place in just days and hours and resulted in a complete reconfiguration of the political scene in Bolivia."
Ryabkov expressed hope that the situation will return to normal in the country and that the process of empowerment will continue to evolve within the constitutional framework.
Bolivian President Evo Morales announced his resignation on Sunday after protests over his re-election to a fourth term, describing his arrest warrant as "illegal", while the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that what happened in Bolivia is a "coup prepared."
