Since being shortlisted as CDU boss, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer has not always run smoothly in terms of communication. In particular, skewed sentences in press conferences or interviews, as well as the debacle over the Youtuber Rezo, have repeatedly brought critical reactions in the press and in social media to the possible chancellor candidate of the Union.
Shortly before the Leipzig party congress next week, which could also be a show-off of Kramp-Karrenbauer's inner-party competitors, the CDU chairman is now reissuing her press office.
According to SPIEGEL information party spokeswoman Christiane Schwarte will leave the CDU headquarters this week, the new CDU chief communicator is the experienced journalist Hero Warring. The TV man was most recently head of the service of the policy editor in the capital studio of n-tv and RTL, is well connected in Berlin and should be able to advise his new boss with his long experience, especially for television appearances.

Unlike Schwarte, the 49-year-old Warrings is also focused on media relations and does not additionally look after the area of campaigning and marketing, which in future will be taken over by Adenauer-Haus's long-time employee Isabelle Hass.
Thus, after Kramp-Karrenbauer's move to the Federal Ministry of Defense, only one key position remains to be occupied at the CDU: the head of political planning. So far Kramp-Karrenbauers confidant Nico Lange was responsible for this, who went with her to the Ministry.
