The Permanent Representative of Syria to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, stressed the necessity of the commitment of all member states of the Security Council to respect Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
Al-Jaafari stressed during the session of the Council that the Security Council must assume its responsibilities to end the illegal presence of foreign forces on Syrian territory and to obligate the countries supporting terrorism to stop it.
Al-Jaafari said that the members of the Security Council should support the efforts of the Syrian state and its allies to combat terrorism in accordance with the council's resolutions, pointing out that the terrorist organizations control Idlib province and take human shields from its people and it is the duty of the Syrian state to rid its citizens there of those organizations.
Al-Jaafari pointed to the need to immediately lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, which represent economic terrorism. He pointed out that the efforts of the Syrian state and its institutions and partners in humanitarian work such as the Syrian Arab Red Crescent are the main factor in improving the humanitarian situation.
