At least six people were injured in a shooting at a high school in southern California.
"Police responded to news of the shooting at the Saugos secondary school in Santa Clarita," the Associated Press quoted local authorities as saying, adding that six people were wounded and a black-clothes suspect was seen at the scene.
The school and other schools in the area were closed as a precautionary measure as a result of the shooting, while television footage showed police gathering in the vicinity of the school and transporting a number of injured to hospitals.
The New York Times revealed that 51 people were killed in shootings in the United States last August.
Incidents of shootings and hate crimes have increased dramatically this year in the United States because of President Donald Trump's inflammatory racist rhetoric against minorities and people of different ethnic backgrounds, with widespread arms proliferation among Americans without strict regulations.
