The Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Department of Intellectual Property of the Russian Federation to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of intellectual property protection.
The memorandum aims to establish the general frameworks to achieve cooperation between the two parties in granting and registering patents and trademarks for the owners of economic, scientific and productive activities in Syria and the Russian Federation and to improve the effectiveness of the intellectual property systems of the two parties through the exchange of information, meetings, experiences, competencies and all activities related to the protection of intellectual property.
For his part, the head of the Federal Department of Intellectual Property of the Russian Federation, Gregory Yevlev, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Russian side, told the media that this memorandum will encourage business owners to register their trademarks and patents in both countries and Russia's keenness to provide various forms of support and support in the implementation Programs and activities related to the protection of property and patents, expressing thanks and appreciation for Syria's position in supporting the Russian initiative concerning the adoption of the Russian language as an official language in the World Organization for the Protection of Intellectual Property. The signing of the memorandum was attended by Assistant Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Rifaat Suleiman, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Syria Alexander Yevimov and Director of Protection of Commercial and Industrial Property Shafiq Al-Azab.
