No dissenting vote, one abstention: At an extraordinary party congress, the Brandenburg SPD endorsed the negotiated coalition agreement. CDU and Greens still have to agree.

Two and a half months ago, the state elections in Brandenburg, a new government is approaching. The Brandenburg SPD has approved the majority of the coalition agreement for an alliance with the CDU and the Greens at an extraordinary party congress. 113 delegates said "yes" in Potsdam on Friday evening, one abstained. There were no votes against. Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) had previously again campaigned for the coalition agreement.

On Saturday, the CDU then wants to formally conclude the negotiated paper at a state party convention in Schönefeld. The CDU base had previously spoken in a member survey with a large majority for it.

The Greens also let their members decide on the 84-page coalition agreement. On Monday they want to count the votes and announce the result. If all parties have given the green light, Prime Minister Woidke should be re-elected in the Diet on Wednesday and the new Cabinet should be sworn in.

"As young and feminine as ever"

"I'm grateful to our negotiating partners Greens and CDU that we've managed that, and the treaty is in the future," Woidke said at the start of the convention. He also introduced the planned SPD ministers in the new coalition government. "Here is a team that is as young and feminine as never before in the Brandenburg SPD," he said with great applause.

In the planned red-black-green coalition government belongs to the SPD team, the previous Minister of Transport Kathrin Schneider (57), who changes as head of the State Chancellery. The important finance department is to go to the former Secretary of State Katrin Lange (47), Science Minister should be the member of the Bundestag Manja Schüle (43). Jörg Steinbach (63) is to chair the Department of Economics and Labor. Woidke praised him as "Mr. Tesla" because of his crucial share in the planned settlement of the electric car manufacturer Tesla in Grünheide.

In the state election on September 1, the previous red-red government alliance had lost its majority. The SPD as an election winner then also conducted exploratory talks for a red-green-red alliance. Partly because of the narrow majority of a left-wing alliance in the state parliament, coalition talks with the CDU and the Greens were started. With the second-placed AfD none of the other parties wanted to make a coalition.
