According to the military, Israeli warplanes have attacked targets of the Islamic jihad extremist organization in the Gaza Strip. Accordingly, Israel bombarded positions of extremists.
Actually there was a truce since Thursday morning. This was negotiated after two days of intense confrontation from both sides under the mediation of Egypt. However, this proved fast as brittle. According to Israeli sources, five rockets from the Gaza Strip were fired on Israel shortly after its entry into force.
The number of Palestinians killed by Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip rose to 34 on Thursday. The "Islamic Jihad" is classified by the EU and the US as a terrorist organization and has frequently perpetrated attacks in Israel in the past.
The organization is funded by Israel's archenemy Iran and has written the destruction of the Jewish state on the flags. It was founded in the late 1970s by Palestinian students in Egypt.
The recent escalation of the conflict was preceded by the killing of the Islamist leader Baha Abu Al Ata by the Israeli Air Force (read more here). Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the killed Abu Al Ata as the main mastermind of many rocket attacks and attacks from the Gaza Strip since last year.
