Russia Affair: Court Speaks Trump-Familiar Stone Guilty

2019-11-15T18:23:00.397Z

He is said to have obstructed the judiciary in the Russia affair and made false statements: Roger Stone, longtime confidant of Donald Trump, has been convicted by a court.

The sentence will not be set until next February, but a court in Washington has already declared Roger Stone guilty. After two days of deliberations, the jury considered it proven that Donald Trump's 67-year-old former adviser in the Russia affair made false statements and interfered with judicial investigations. Stone had previously rejected all allegations.

Stone was arrested in Florida in January and later released on conditionality. The background to this is the investigation by special investigator Robert Mueller into whether there were any collusion between the Trump camp and representatives of Russia in the 2016 presidential election campaign. Stone worked for Trump in 2015 - preparing for the 2016 presidential campaign. He continued to be in close contact with him afterward, as a kind of informal adviser.

The allegations against the 67-year-old (read a portrait here) are related to a hacker attack on US Democratic email accounts during the 2016 election campaign, for which US intelligence has blamed Russia. The attack had stolen emails from Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, later published by the Wikileaks revelation platform.

Trump answers immediately

So they are now convicting Roger Stone of lying and wanting to jail him for many years to come. Well, what about Crooked Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper, Shifty Ship, Ear & Nellie, Steele & all others, including even Mueller himself? Did not they lie? ....

Mueller's team accuses Stone of misrepresenting to the US Congress what he knew about the hacker attack and with whom he communicated about it. In addition, he is said to have harassed another witness to make false statements in the matter.

Donald Trump responded immediately to the jury verdict against his former advisor. On Twitter, the US president demanded that others - Hillary Clinton, for example - have to be investigated for possible false statements. "Did not you lie?" Trump wrote. "A double standard as never before in the history of our country?"
