An arrest warrant has been executed against the father of the Islamist family, who were deported to Germany on Thursday. This was announced by Martin Pallgen, spokesman for the Berlin Senate Department for the Interior. The man was "handed over to the judiciary on the basis of an existing arrest warrant".
Why an arrest warrant against the father was present, was not communicated. The man is currently still in a Berlin detention center and will be brought "promptly" to Lower Saxony. According to the spokesman, the family is already no longer in Berlin.
The seven-member family B. from Hildesheim was deported from Turkey on Thursday. It was received by the police and other authorities at Berlin-Tegel Airport. It is attributed to the Salafist milieu. The Turkish Ministry of the Interior described them as "foreign terrorist fighters".
Arrest warrants for Islamist activities are not available against family members in Germany. There are four women, two men and a baby. Turkey had announced the deportation of several German alleged supporters of the terrorist militia "Islamic State" (IS) this week.
