Five people from the same family, including three children, have been killed in a shooting incident in the southern city of San Diego.
US media quoted local authorities in the city as saying that "five people from the same family were killed today in a shootout in San Diego," stressing that the dead included three children.
A fourth 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital for surgery after being shot in a house in the Paradise Hills neighborhood, authorities said.
"The children found dead this morning are between the ages of three, five and nine," said Lieutenant Matt Dobbs, without elaborating on the motives behind the crime or the perpetrator.
At least six people were injured on Monday in a shooting incident at a high school in southern California.
The New York Times revealed that 51 people were killed in shootings in the United States last August.
Incidents of shootings and hate crimes have increased dramatically this year in the United States because of President Donald Trump's racist and inflammatory rhetoric that encouraged freedom of arms and refused to legalize or restrict the order.
