A year has elapsed since the beginning of the continuous mass protests of the French people, which included most cities and regions to condemn the economic and social policies of the government of French President Emmanuel Macron, which significantly affected the lives and lives of the French, especially the poor.

Continued protests led by a movement called itself (yellow jackets) launched on the seventeenth of November last year to condemn the rise in fuel prices as well as rising costs of living and then extended its demands to include the abolition of taxes approved by the French government, which the movement believes that depleting the working and middle classes Strengthens the rich class and called on the movement from the beginning to reduce the value of fuel taxes and raise the minimum wage and then evolved to the point of calling for Macron's resignation and his departure from power.

On the first anniversary of the protests, the French took to the streets today in a number of French areas, stressing that their movement did not die and clashes took place with police near the stations of Porte de Chanbrier and Jar Dostrlits, south of the capital Paris, while French police fired tear gas to disperse the protesters and arrested about 24 of them.

Over the past months, hundreds of thousands of French have participated in protests, which police met with severe repression, first using water cannons, tear gas and sound bombs, then starting shooting, killing dozens of people and injuring and arresting thousands more.

The Macron government initially ignored the protesters' demands in the hope of containing and eliminating the demonstrations. However, the French continued their protests every Saturday and their insistence on meeting their economic and living demands led Macron to yield to some of their demands. This did not stop the protest movement.

In one of his remarks after the outbreak of the protests, French President Macron blamed the French themselves: “The turmoil in our society is sometimes caused by the fact that many of our citizens believe that something can be achieved without effort.” He also tried to circumvent the demands of the protest movement by calling for a national dialogue. With the representatives of the movement and the various French parties in an attempt to end the protests, however, the activists (yellow jackets) were not convinced of the macarious dialogue and formalities that resulted from it and boycotted it and confirmed the continuation of demonstrations in many areas.

Observers see the protest movement in France point to the failed economic and social policies pursued by Macron since he came to power in May 2017, which strained the French and pushed many of them to the brink of poverty until the proportion of poor in French society to 13.6 percent and unemployment rate to about 10 On the other hand, the lack of confidence in the political institutions in France.
