Damascus-SANA Anti-smuggling customs officer confiscated more than 1000 kg of smuggled buffalo meat over Damascus

An anti-smuggling customs officer in Damascus confiscated more than 1000 kilograms of smuggled buffalo meat expired in Bab Touma area within the garden of a house mostly thrown outdoors.

The head of a detachment in the officer Suleiman Magout in a statement to SANA that the police follow-up investigations and search for the perpetrator of the offense to arrest him and bring him to the judiciary in addition to follow-up investigation of the area around the place of confiscation to see if there is similar contraband.

He stressed that the smuggled materials expired duly and inform the Damascus Chamber of Commerce on the incident, while will be assessed later fines of smuggled materials confiscated through the Disclosure Committee in the General Administration of Customs.

He added that the seizure of these materials was based on information received by the General Customs Directorate and the General Commander of the Customs Police and based on an investigation order signed by the Attorney General in Damascus.

For his part, Damascus Chamber of Commerce member Fayez Dannoun said that based on news from the Customs control officer in Damascus, the confiscated materials were detected and turned out to be a smuggled buffalo meat expired about four months ago, pointing out that the meat is rotten and unfit for consumption.

The control customs officer seized in last September a large amount of smuggled smoke hidden inside a tank dedicated to the transfer of oil derivatives in the province of Aleppo.
