A member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hanan Ashrawi, called on the international community and international human rights institutions to immediately intervene to release the sick Palestinian prisoner Sami Abu Diak and all the prisoners in Israeli jails.
Ashrawi said in a statement today that the Israeli occupation authorities continue their criminal practices and violations of prisoners' rights guaranteed by international laws, conventions and resolutions, including deliberate medical negligence.
Ashrawi pointed out that there are 700 Palestinian prisoners suffering from various diseases, including 200 prisoners suffering from chronic diseases and at least 10 prisoners with cancer.
Ashrawi called on the international community to release all Palestinian prisoners and hold the Israeli authorities accountable for their escalating and systematic crimes against them and to open an investigation into the conditions of their detention and the conditions of the martyrdom of 221 prisoners in Israeli detention since 1967.

In addition, the Israeli occupation forces arrested this morning a wife and brother of a Palestinian prisoner during their visit.
The Prisoners 'and Editors' Affairs Authority said in a statement carried by Wafa News Agency that the Israeli authorities arrested the wife of the Palestinian prisoner Ramadan Eid Mashahra and his brother during their visit to him in Hadarim prison.
It is noteworthy that the prisoner Mashahra, 43 years old, has been detained since July 2002.
The Israeli occupation forces arrested 17 Palestinians in different areas in the West Bank.
