Iran's Revolutionary Guards have arrested two key provocators of riots and chaos in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, the provincial governor said.
The IRNA news agency quoted intelligence of the Revolutionary Guards Corps in the province as saying that the two elements were charged with inciting citizens to attack state institutions and sabotage public property and to prepare videos about them and send them to officials of their guardians abroad in exchange for obtaining residence in a western country and money. They were also charged with inciting the burning of police stations and cars and the destruction of government buildings and gas stations.
The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Shamkhani yesterday confirmed the involvement of groups of the so-called "People's Mujahedeen Organization" and the enemies of the revolution in the riots in Iranian cities recently.
