Nur Sultan-Sana
The next round of Astana talks on the crisis in Syria could be held in the capital, Nur Sultan, in early December, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Telyberdi said today.
In a statement carried by Sputnik, Teleberde said his ministry was waiting for an official request from the guarantors of the Astana process, namely Russia, Iran and Turkey.
Earlier this month, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Ipek Smedyarov announced that the next round of Astana talks could be held in late November or early next month in Nur Sultan.
Astana meetings began in the Kazakh capital since the beginning of 2017 and held 13 meetings, one of them in the Russian city of Sochi, and stressed in its entirety the firm commitment to preserve the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria and to continue the war on terrorist organizations until it is finally defeated.
