No violation of international law: US government approves Israeli settlements in the West Bank

More than 600,000 Israelis live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and in East Jerusalem annexed by Israel - in addition to three million Palestinians. Uno and the US considered the settlements as illegal. Until now.

The US government no longer sees any violation of international law in Israeli settlements in the West Bank. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the turnaround on Monday in Washington. After analyzing the legal situation, his government has come to the conclusion that the Jewish settlements in the Palestinian area are not "per se" in conflict with international law. Pompeo thus announced an important turnaround in US Middle East policy.
