Ukraine affair in the US Congress: Trump likes the idea to testify

2019-11-18T15:50:07.832Z

US President Trump has unleashed a new Twitter tirade against US Democratic Party leader Nancy Pelosi. And he declares that he "seriously consider" to testify in writing to the Ukraine affair.

News from the US head of state via Twitter: In two short text contributions, Donald Trump has again echauffiert about an alleged "witch hunt" against him in the Ukraine affair and wailed over the impeachment proceedings against him in the US Congress.

In addition, Trump dramatically attacked US House of Representatives Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi had suggested resignation on Sunday in a television interview.

In addition, Pelosi had suggested to the President in the interview, this could say in the Ukraine affair - even in writing - before the Congress. Trump now reacted in a sarcastic tone: he "liked the idea," and he "seriously considered" making a written statement.

Trump is not summoned before the congress. The Democrats are about to end their interviews with witnesses. Pelosi had said in the interview with the CBS show "Face the Nation", it was sad how Trump attacks the unnamed whistleblower. She would protect herself from them. Trump would like to present his point of view in front of the congress - if desired also in writing.

.... that I testify about the phony Impeachment Witch Hunt. So you said I could do it in writing. Even though I did not do anything wrong, and I do not want to give credit for this No Due Process Hoax, I like the idea & will, in order to get Congress focused again, strongly consider it!

Trump also used the tweets to berate Pelosi again. He called the deputy "crazy" and "idle". Pelosi was "intimidated by the radical left" and therefore "soon finished".

Pelosi had also accused Trump on Friday that the US president had "bribed" the Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Selenskyj: in a telephone conversation and on diplomatic channels, Trump had tried to make his counterpart publicly negative about Joe Biden, Trump's potential rival to the US Presidential Election 2020, to persuade.

The US Democrats accuse Trump that his government has withheld hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid to put Selenskyj under pressure. Several high-ranking US diplomats had substantiated this allegation in a public impeachment hearing.

If it is proven that Trump puts another head of state under pressure for his own benefit, it would be abuse of office. For this offense, a US President can be removed from the Congress of the Office.

However, the hurdles for impeachment in both chambers of Congress are high: even if the Democrat-controlled Congress votes to impeach Trump, it is unlikely that the Republican-dominated Senate will be ousted.
