Al-Shaab Art Gallery has recovered an important part of the memory of Syrian plastic art with an exhibition entitled (Collectibles 1) which included the works of more than 40 Syrian artists who dug their paintings on the brow of time.
The exhibition included a group of paintings that were predominantly classical and involved in presenting serious subjects and represented Syrian life in its vocabulary and diversity.
Dr. Ihsan Al-Arr, President of the Union of Fine Artists, confirmed that this exhibition is one of the most important activities of the Union and is the result of his efforts in archiving all the paintings he has since its establishment in 1970 until today to be presented to the public through separate exhibitions and introducing the creativity of the Syrian artist.
The President of the Union considered that the exhibition is an opportunity to restore the memory of Syrian plastic art and to know more closely the creations of artists who have left life, an opportunity for contemporary Syrian artists to benefit from the experience of their predecessors.
Artist Saed Salloum The exhibition was considered a gift for the departed artists, but their works remained among us, speaking in a voice of beauty and reflecting the time stages belonging to the seventies and eighties, allowing the student to study and document accurately.
The artist Mahmoud Jawabreh considered that the exhibition is an opportunity to bring old works of Syrian plastic artists to life, noting that it is a small part of about 800 works all archived by the Union, pointing to its value, which represents the basis of contemporary plastic art.
Mohammed Al-Obaid, the son of plastic artist Naji Obaid, pointed out the importance of the exhibition in restoring his late father's work and presenting it to the public.
