Russia strongly condemned US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's remarks on the reimposition of sanctions against Iran's Fordo facilities, saying these intentions were a flagrant violation of international obligations.
"Such a resolution is yet another example of a flagrant violation of international obligations by the United States and its irresponsible position on agreements and UN Security Council resolutions that they explicitly violate and also try to complicate the commitment process by other countries," Sputnik quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement. .
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that such shameful behavior of one of the largest countries competing for international leadership deserves strong condemnation, stressing that Moscow will continue to cooperate closely with Iran on the Fordow facility.
The United States announced yesterday that it had decided to ban all activity at the Fordow nuclear site in Iran, which has so far been partially exempted from US sanctions.
After its unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal signed with Iran in May 2018, the Trump administration reintroduced economic sanctions against Iran as part of its campaign to exert what it calls extreme pressure on Tehran's stance against US hegemonic policies.
