The Committee on Arab, Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the People's Assembly discussed today with a German parliamentary delegation headed by Frank Bazeman, head of the contact group on Syria in the parliament, ways to overcome the obstacles between Syria and Germany through parliamentary work to promote cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, it was agreed to develop a joint working paper and continuous communication through the formation of parliamentary working groups to start practical steps regarding lifting unilateral coercive measures from Syria, facilitating the return of Syrian refugees and strengthening relations between the two countries.

Dr. Ammar al-Assad, vice chairman of the Arab, Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Committee, stressed the need for the German delegation to convey the reality of what he saw during his visit to Syria to the parliament and the German public in particular and the European in general in order to correct the misleading image conveyed by the Western media, which does not reflect the reality of the situation of recovery Syria and its victory over terrorism.

He pointed out that the Syrian state is keen on the voluntary return of its children to Syria and needs their expertise in the reconstruction process, pointing out that their return requires positive steps in cooperation with the Syrian state and not with other countries.

For his part, head of the delegation Bazeman said that his party is fully prepared to cooperate with the People's Assembly and the Syrian government and to reach a joint working formula and take practical steps immediately, pointing out that they have submitted before the coming to Syria a memorandum to the German Parliament, including lifting coercive measures on Syria and the restoration of diplomatic relations between Germany and Syria Organize the process of repatriating Syrian refugees in Germany to participate in the reconstruction of their country, especially as Syria will soon be completely safe and free from terrorism.

Bazeman stressed that the solution to the crisis in Syria must be by the Syrians without outside interference, pointing to the remarkable change witnessed in Damascus a year after his visit from the return of normal life, which is observed everywhere, which is evidence of the stability of Syria.

Bazeman pointed to the change in the European political climate towards Syria, as the Italian Minister of Communications expressed his desire to visit Syria, the German parliament has proposed a cooperation project with the Syrian government, in addition to Switzerland decided to grant Syria financial assistance worth 450 million euros for reconstruction.
