With national expertise, WDRVM for alternative energy and heavy industries in the industrial city of Hasia in Homs countryside succeeded in manufacturing, assembling, installing and operating wind turbine with all its components for the first time in Syria and the Middle East.

Syrian experts of engineers, technicians and workers have overcome all obstacles encountered in the current circumstances, unilateral coercive measures and the economic siege imposed on the Syrian people. Homs on the Homs Tartous Highway, 20 km from the city of Homs.

Rabi Walid Elias, CEO of the company, explained to SANA reporters at the wind turbine installation site that the turbine capacity is 2.5 MW and was manufactured and operated with 100% national hands and expertise. It is equipped with the latest technology in the world and has been tried and provided the electrical network with more than 150 MW free of charge to the Ministry. Electricity has also been generated 300 MW so far.

Elias pointed out that the first turbine has been installed and operated and is now preparing to move the crane to the second site in the opposite side of the second turbine installation, which will be the same capacity as it has been fully manufactured, pointing out that the turbine is environmentally friendly and does not make any noise and can illuminate between 3000 to 5000 houses It has been awarded all international certifications such as German Lloyd GL, ISO and other international certifications.

He pointed out that the installation of wind turbines would save significant costs annually and provide electricity to a large number of areas, pointing out that 11 companies in the world are manufacturing wind turbines in addition to the Syrian company, which is the only one in the Middle East and the Gulf countries and North Africa is competitive in terms of size, technology and manufacturing and includes a factory Unlike most manufacturers that import blades from other companies, the company is able to compete and export to all countries of the world with the possibility of manufacturing between 80 to 100 turbines per year.

According to Elias, the production halls in the company are 45,000 square meters and 25,000 square meters of assembly and transportation yards, pointing out that the installation of the turbine requires high skills and special equipment where the base of the tower weighs 1800 tons which is resistant to earthquakes in addition to the protection of the turbine from the lightning and the head of the turbine Faisal It weighs up to 120 tons and each blade is 50 meters long and weighs 12 tons. The turbine consists of 3 blades and a rotary head weighing 30 tons, all circulating for 24 hours and for 25 years without stopping. The turbine produces electricity to cover its full costs after three years of operation.

Regarding the selection of wind turbine site on Homs Tartous Highway at Shin Ben Elias Bridge, coordination and cooperation between the company's expert cadres and the Energy Research Center at the Ministry of Electricity and the agreement on the site being one of the most windy sites in the Middle East. The winds are in Katina, Jandar, Ghazlani and Masyaf.

Elias noted the offers made by the company from several neighboring countries to export turbines to it after the success of manufacturing, assembly and installation in Syria, expressing appreciation for the efforts made by workers, technicians and engineers who turned the dream into reality.

In turn, Eng. Shadi Mahmoud in charge of the Department of Turbine Control that it operates according to an integrated control system consisting of several systems, each system is different from the other and led by one system consists of more than 800 parameters of entrances and many exits and deal with times of milliseconds and nanoseconds indicating that The system has great advantages: it is low in error, conducts instantaneous monitoring of milliseconds, manages and handles it with full national expertise.

For his part, Engineer Farouk Hamdan, Director of Design and responsible for the implementation of the company that the height of the tower that installed the turbine is 80 meters and the diameter of the rotor has 103 meters and the capacity of the turbine 2.5 megawatts and the tower is made of metal and steel is compatible with international systems has been examined by the highest international standards for a manufacturing system Wind turbines.
