(CNN Spanish) - On the afternoon of Tuesday, a group of ten people were evacuated - made up of seven mothers of detained protesters, two activists and a child - who had been held since Monday in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Managua, demanding the freedom of his relatives, according to Father Rodolfo López, vicar of that temple. The evacuation was supported by the Red Cross, López said.

According to the rector of the cathedral, Father Luis Alberto Herrera, the priests guarded the opposition protesters in a space of the building, after groups related to the government of President Daniel Ortega entered the temple and attacked a priest and a religious. The Archdiocese of Managua reported that incident in a press release on Monday.

CNN has tried to communicate with Idania Castillo, liaison with international agencies of the Government Communication and Citizenship Council, but does not respond to our calls.

This Tuesday, a group of people who said in the official Channel 4 to be part of the San Pablo Apóstol community, remained in the temple. They said they prayed and protested what they call a message of hate from some priests from the pulpits and also denounced that some clerics follow the message of leaders they call "coup attempt."

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights on Tuesday condemned, through a statement, violence against mothers and religious by civilians and demanded that the State investigate the facts, stop the siege of temples and relatives of political prisoners, and expressed concern about charges faced by those who took help to a Masaya temple where another 10 mothers go on a hunger strike to demand the release of detainees in the protests that began in April 2018.

The bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Nicaragua expressed through a statement their concern about physical aggressions against priests, harassment, siege and disrespect against the Metropolitan Cathedral and other parishes of the Archdiocese of Managua and also for what they consider to be the State indifference to the rights of Nicaraguans who manifest their pain and their needs, compromising their lives.
