Lebanese President Michel Aoun reiterated the need to fight corruption in all its forms and work to build a productive economy, stressing that "dialogue alone is the right way to solve crises."
Aoun said in a speech today on the eve of Lebanon's Independence Day, which falls tomorrow that popular movements have broken some of the previous taboos and toppled some protectorates and pushed the judiciary to move, pointing out that no one other than the Lebanese are able to press for the implementation of existing laws and legislation necessary to restore Looted money and pursue the corrupt.
Aoun called the fight against corruption a "tough fight" and pledged to protect the Lebanese judiciary in order to play its role in fighting corruption.
`` We are in a race against time.The challenges are big and serious.We have missed a lot of time, '' Aoun said.
The Lebanese capital Beirut and a number of Lebanese areas in the north and the Bekaa and the south have seen since 17 October last demonstrations against the deterioration of living conditions, including cut off roads and the closure of schools, banks and a number of institutions.
