Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's remarks on Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories contradict all relevant international resolutions and lead to a dead end.

"Statements such as those made by the US Secretary of State that Washington no longer considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal are directly contrary to all existing resolutions signed by all the countries of the world and lead largely to a dead end," Lavrov told a news conference today. .

The Information Office of the Russian Foreign Ministry recently confirmed Russia's principled stance of the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Lavrov expressed Moscow's concern over the US position rejecting all resolutions of the international community and the binding resolutions of the UN Security Council concerning the need to stop Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In another context, Lavrov announced that Moscow has handed the DPRK government an updated version of a plan to resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula and will then transfer it to other relevant partners, noting that the updated version contains amendments taking into account comments received from other participants in the six-party talks on the Settlement on the Korean Peninsula.

Talks between the United States and the DPRK on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula stalled after the failure of the second summit between Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump in Hanoi last February, while Washington continued its hostile practices and attempts to escalate tensions in the region.
