The head of the State Duma Science and Education Committee, Vetslav Nikonov, stressed that the presence of other US and foreign forces on Syrian territory is illegal because it did not come at the invitation of the Syrian government or a UN Security Council resolution.

Nikonov said in a statement to the SANA correspondent in Moscow that the presence of these forces is the main objective is to exploit oil wealth and thus secure the economic interests of US oil companies.

Nikonov pointed out that the ongoing Israeli aggression on Syrian territory comes in light of the unlimited support and biased position provided by the United States to this entity, which was clearly in the Washington Declaration on the occupied Syrian Golan, which is a dangerous precedent and new evidence that the United States turns a blind eye to any action Israel is aggressive and encourages it to do so.

In a similar interview, First Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma Alexander Scheinin stressed that the United States is publicly stealing Syrian oil and at the same time supports the acts of aggression committed by the Israeli entity against Syria.

He stressed the illegality of any actions taken on the territory of a sovereign state without the consent of its government and coordination with them, pointing out that the Americans had previously invoked false arguments to stay in Syria and cover up their actual goals. He keeps his troops in Syria to “protect the oil fields” - stealing Syrian oil.
