The Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Dmitry Poliansky stressed that the work of the Constitutional Discussion Committee in Geneva is led and owned by Syria and it is unacceptable to interfere in its work or impose timetables.

“Any outside interference in the work of the commission should be avoided, and no one should impose on the Syrians things that are incompatible with their national interests. It is also unacceptable to impose artificial timetables on its work, which should be based on a Council resolution,” Polianski told a Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East.
