(CNN Spanish) - A group of women militants of the Frente Amplio Venezuela, an opposition coalition of civil and political organizations, went to the headquarters of the Ministry of Food in Caracas to present a document that demanded actions to address the country's food crisis .

“Hyperinflation is eating us. He pulverized us, ”said Judith Aparicio, spokeswoman for the group, in relation to the economic situation in the country that impacts access to food.

Aparicio cited in his complaint the 2019 report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) which warns of the increase in malnutrition in Venezuela in recent years.

In a report this year, FAO said that during the last decade "the prevalence of undernourishment almost quadrupled" in the country. The population with insufficient food increased from 6.4% in the period 2012-2014 to 21.2% between 2016 and 2018, according to the agency.
