Jerry Chun Shing Lee, a former CIA former agent with permanent residency in Hong Kong, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to conspiracy to provide information to China. He was sentenced to 19 years in a US court on November 22.

The case stated that the Chinese side gave Li Zhencheng a total of $840,000 in exchange for the information he obtained when he served in the CIA. It is pointed out that due to Li Zhencheng’s leak, the CIA’s identity as a spy and informant in China was recognized and some people were even killed. According to US media reports, although the defense said that the government failed to prove that the money was from China, the prosecution retorted that Li failed to fully explain the source of the huge amount of money in the bank account.

Li Zhencheng, 55, served in the CIA for 13 years until his departure in 2007. He was exposed to a large amount of confidential information during the CIA. Li was arrested at the Kennedy International Airport in New York at the beginning of last year and admitted a crime of espionage in May this year.
