With a Lufthansa machine from Erbil, the German supporter of the "Islamic State" (IS) Laura H. has returned to her homeland. The 30-year-old from Hesse will initially remain at large.

Laura H., who joined the terror organization "Islamic State" (IS) in Syria, returned to Germany on Saturday night. Already accompanied by officers of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) landed around 21 clock with a Lufthansa aircraft from Erbil at Frankfurt Airport. Also in the machine were three children of the 30-year-old woman from the Giessen area.

Laura H. was freed on Friday from the al-Haul prison camp in northern Syria. After weeks of negotiations, the Foreign Office (AA), in cooperation with an American aid organization, succeeded in freeing the Germans and their children from the camp, where Kurdish security forces interned several thousand IS supporters, and transferring them to Erbil, northern Iraq bring to.

After her return, the German, who had moved to Syria in 2016, initially remained at large. The authorities are investigating the Hessin because of membership in a terrorist organization and the neglect of the children. For an arrest warrant, however, the previously collected clues did not suffice, it was said in security circles. However, Laura H. was deprived of the passport at the airport and imposed an exit ban.

Her three children, one of whom was born according to the findings of the authorities in Syria, came back to Germany with Laura H. Youth Office officials checked at the airport to see if the children are well. First, a close relative of the IS-devotee should now take care of the children. One of the children has American citizenship because the father had a US passport.

Laura H. moved to Syria in 2016 with the American from Somalia. Even before her departure, she sympathized according to findings of the security authorities with the Salafstischen scene in Germany. She also ran a kind of online shop for oriental and Islamic fashion. In her assortment she performed partly more modern clothes, but also many garments with full veiling as well as headscarves for little girls.

In the social media, she also posted a call for donations of a supposed Syria relief association, which in reality belongs to the Salafist scene and has been watched for years by the constitution protection. Friend requests from men categorically refused them. Her husband is said to have been killed later in Syria. Shortly afterwards, Laura H. was arrested by Kurdish security forces.

Laura H. herself now wants to get rid of the idiology of the IS. At any rate, she reported this to the officials of the BKA, who had already heard them in Erbil for some time. Nevertheless, she will have to expect a trial in Germany if the authorities can prove that she was involved in the structures of the IS.

The Federal Government is under pressure from the relevant judiciary to bring more women from IS fighters out of the camp. So far, the Foreign Office (AA) argues that this is impossible because of the chaotic situation in northern Syria.
