New York (CNN) - The reimagined electric version of the truck according to Elon Musk, the Cybertruck, has captured some attention on the internet and sales. The billionaire tweeted on Saturday that there are 146,000 orders for the futuristic vehicle so far, just two days after it was announced with a mixed response.

Musk also emphasized that people who place the pre-order seem to be opting for the most expensive options. He said 41% of the orders are for the four-wheel drive and triple-engine version that starts at $ 69,900, compared to the single-engine rear-wheel drive version that starts at $ 39,900.

Musk tweeted that the company had not used "advertising or paid support."

Advance orders only cost 100 to guarantee them, so today it is much cheaper for someone to express interest in Cybertruck instead of financing it completely. And it will take years for the truck to reach people's hands: production begins in 2021, and the AWD three-engine version will start producing a year later.

The electric van caused Internet corners this week to invent memes about their appearance. The angular style has been compared to everything from a door stop or an old Apple Mouse to a SpongeBob character or a triangle on wheels.

Cybertruck's exterior is made of a newly developed stainless steel alloy, the same metal used for SpaceX rockets, according to Musk. That alloy allows the car to be "literally bulletproof" against at least smaller firearms, including 9-millimeter guns, Musk said.

During Thursday night's presentation, a man with a mallet hit the sides of the truck without damaging it. But the supposedly unbreakable metal glass windows of the vehicle broke when they were hit with a metal ball.

Peter Valdes-Dapena and Matt McFarland of CNN Business contributed to this report.
