(CNN) - President Donald Trump said he would like a full trial in the Senate if the House votes to continue the process, during an extensive and sometimes scattered interview with Fox News this Friday.

His interview came after a part of the House of Representatives concluded its fifth day of testimony in the public political trial process, which is analyzing accusations of abuse of power by the president.

"I want a trial," he said in a telephone interview, criticizing the investigation of Democrats in the House. Trump added that he wants Hunter Biden and Adam Schiff to testify.

Trump is accused of pressuring the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to announce an investigation into Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, and a Ukrainian company of which the latter was a member of its board of directors, Burisma. There is no evidence of irregularities by Biden in Ukraine.

Schiff is the main Democrat in the House Intelligence Commission, who conducted the investigation and public hearings.

Republican lawmakers in the Capitol work with the White House to prepare for the likely political trial in the Senate, focusing on the idea that allowing Democrats to present their evidence may be the best action to protect the president. Ultimately, senators, specifically the majority leader, Mitch McConnell, will determine how the trial is conducted there.

During a meeting on Thursday with White House lawyer Pat Cipollone, a group of Republican senators discussed how a Senate trial should take place if the House votes to dismiss Trump.

Lawmakers argued that Republicans should allow Democrats to present their case within two weeks as a tentative estimate of how long that process could take. However, an assistant warned that this period was not formulated strictly and the assistants and members have made it clear that no one knows for sure how long the process could take.

"It is not written on stone," the source told CNN.

Trump also suggested during his Friday interview that he wanted Energy Secretary Rick Perry to make a statement about his dealings with Ukraine.

"Frankly, I would like Rick to make a statement, I think you already made a statement," he said of Perry.

Trump spoke on some of the public testimony of witnesses, saying he does not know the former special envoy to Ukraine, Kurt Volker, while on the United States ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, said: "I barely know him."

Trump questioned why Sondland was working so closely with Ukraine, something he explained during his testimony.

“I've had a couple of conversations, I've seen him hanging around, you know, when I go to Europe, but he was actually an ambassador of the European Union, and suddenly, he's working on this, you know, ask about it ", said.

He was also asked about the participation of his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani in Ukraine and if he disagreed with his State Department.

Trump called Rudy a "great fighter against crime" and a "legendary figure" and said his credentials were useful for "dealing with a corrupt country ... it means a lot."

Trump also criticized the former US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovich, who testified last Friday.

He said he asked his team why they were so kind to Yovanovitch and they said "she is a woman, we have to be."

He also attacked the president of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, whom she described as "crazy", "nothing talented" and "highly overrated."
