(CNN) - Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg was released from the hospital and is at home after experiencing chills and fever, the US Supreme Court announced Sunday.

"She is at home and is fine," said a court spokeswoman.

Ginsburg, 86, was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington before being transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore on Friday night for the treatment of any possible infection. The Supreme Court said Saturday that Ginsburg's symptoms had subsided after receiving antibiotics and intravenous fluids.

His visit to the hospital came a few days after Ginsburg returned to the podium after missing a day in court due to a stomach problem. On Friday, Ginsburg had participated in the regular conference behind closed doors with other judges, according to a court spokeswoman.

Four times cancer survivor, Ginsburg has had a long history of medical problems. In August, she was treated for pancreatic cancer, and last year, almost two months before undergoing surgery to remove cancerous nodules, the liberal judge received treatment for three ribs that fractured during a fall in her office.

Ginsburg's health has become a recurring problem as the court deals with powerful cases that can transform laws in the United States. Since taking office, President Donald Trump has made two appointments, Neil Gorsuch in 2017 and Brett Kavanaugh in 2018, deepening the conservative inclination.
