The Minister of Public Works and Housing Eng. Suhail Abdul Latif discussed with the President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Gholam Hossein Shafei mechanisms of bilateral cooperation and ways to achieve partnerships in the field of public works, housing and joint investment projects.

The Minister pointed out that there are great opportunities for cooperation and investment in Syria in the housing and public works sector and facilities in this regard, in addition to the investment opportunities in the real estate development areas updated by the Real Estate Development and Investment Authority, adding: “We have government companies in Syria specialized in the field of construction and infrastructure. Iranian companies can cooperate with them in construction and construction projects. ”

The executive program of the memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year in Syria will be signed today and will be an important starting point for cooperation in the next stage, he said, adding that Iranian companies have opportunities to participate in reconstruction projects in Syria.

For his part, Shafei affirmed the willingness and willingness of the Iranian side and the private sector to participate in the reconstruction of Syria, where Iranian companies have high capabilities and capabilities and diverse technical and engineering expertise, pointing out that the opportunities have come for reconstruction in Syria after the restoration of security and stability, noting the victories achieved by Syria in the fight against terrorism.

The meeting was attended by Iranian Minister of Roads and City-Building Engineer Mohammad Islami, Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud and Advisor to the First Vice President of Iran and Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Syrian-Iranian-Iraqi Relations Hassan Dana'i.

In addition, a meeting was held in the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture of Iran.

The Minister of Public Works and Housing said during the meeting that the conditions are ripe for Iranian private investors to contribute to the reconstruction projects, especially after the return of security and stability to most areas of Syria.

The Minister stressed the need to translate the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and the Ministry of Roads and the construction of Iranian cities on the ground through the creation of joint Syrian-Iranian companies in the field of services, public works and housing.

Minister Abdul Latif and the accompanying delegation also presented a detailed presentation during the meeting via video of the opportunities of investment and real estate development in various Syrian regions, as well as reviewing the work of some Syrian companies specialized in the field of reconstruction and their role in construction and housing operations and the possibility of cooperation of Iranian companies with them in future projects in Syria.

For his part, the Iranian Minister of Roads and City Building stressed the readiness of the Iranian private sector with its technical and engineering capabilities to cooperate and invest in the residential sector in Syria and participate in the reconstruction and development of Syrian infrastructure.

For his part, the Syrian ambassador said that the memorandum of understanding between the two central banks in Syria and Iran, which was signed during the 14th session of the joint committee held in Damascus, is being followed up to translate it into concrete steps whether to facilitate bank transfers between the two countries or deal in local currency or link between banks. And provide facilities for bank transfer.

"The next step will be the establishment of a joint Syrian-Iranian bank in Syria," he said, stressing that banking steps are essential for economic and investment cooperation and that the private sector in both countries is a key partner in all investment projects included in the long-term strategic economic cooperation agreement.

Ambassador Mahmoud pointed to the need to activate the participation of the private sector in Iran in the reconstruction phase in Syria and the rehabilitation of infrastructure, especially the residential sector, adding that the Syrian government has put in its work program to provide all necessary facilities and give priority to Iranian companies to contribute effectively in the reconstruction phase and take advantage of opportunities Large investment in Syria.

For his part, Shafi'i, head of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, said that investment in Syria is an opportunity for Iranian companies, pointing out that the Iranian private sector wants to participate actively in this.

Minister Abdul Latif also met with the President of the Iranian Engineers Association Farajallah Rajabi at the headquarters of the Organization of the Iranian Engineering System in the presence of representatives of the public and private sectors in Iran.

The Minister stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of trade union work and at the level of companies, stressing that the establishment of joint companies is the main lever to promote bilateral cooperation and reach the desired results.

For his part, Rajabi stressed the readiness of his institution to cooperate fully with the Syrian side in the field of residential sector.

The meeting was attended by the Syrian ambassador in Tehran.
